The Foundation of Our Work . . .

Catholic Social Teaching

Catholic Social Service serves people of all faiths. We make no distinction in this regard.

But the foundations of our service, and that of all Catholic Charities agencies across the country, are the seven principles of Catholic Social Teaching.

1. The Life and Dignity of the Human Person
2. Participation: The Call to Family and Community

3. Rights and Responsibilities
4. The Option for the Poor and the Vulnerable
5. The Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers
6. Solidarity
7. Care for God's Creation

These principles originate in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They are further expressed in the encyclicals and pastoral letters of Catholic tradition, and in the lives of the holy men and women who have gone before us. They are reflections of a loving God, and of our vision for a just and compassionate world.

These seven principles guide our efforts at Catholic Social Service as we labor to give expression to a just and loving God in our own little corner of southwest Kansas.
