Supporting the Family in Southwest Kansas

Catholic Social Service in the Diocese of Dodge City works to support families in Southwest Kansas in the following ways:

  •  Adoption Services - Catholic Social Service understands that adoption is a lifelong process and an intergenerational journey. Catholic Social Service serves all members of the adoption triad – adoptees, birthparents and siblings, and adoptive families – by providing comprehensive information, ongoing emotional support, search/reunion assistance. Catholic Social Service also works to educate the public, especially young women, health care personnel, and other social service providers, about quality adoption services especially as an alternative to abortion.

  • Pregnancy Counseling - If you are faced with an unexpected pregnancy, Catholic Social Service provides pregnancy counseling regardless of age, income, marital status, or religious affiliation. You'll have a chance to learn about yourself and assess your unique situation so that you can decide whether to parent, or to make an adoption plan for your child. If you decide to parent your child, we will refer you to agencies which can help you prepare for parenting, including the Teen Moms Program at Catholic Social Service. If you decide to create an adoption plan, we'll help you to plan and prepare for that as well.

  • Teen Mom Support - The Teen Mom Program serves women between the ages of 13 and 23 who have chosen to parent and have not yet obtained their high school diploma OR are transitioning from high school to full time employment, college course work or technical/certificate programs.

  • Marriage for Keeps - Marriage for Keeps is a non-faith based educational program that helps married couples learn skills and develop tools to strengthen their marriage and create positive outcomes for themselves and their children. This program is for all types of marriages – stable marriages, healthy marriages, and marriages that are experiencing distress. Everyone can benefit.

  • Behavioral Health Services - The Rural Family Addiction and Behavioral Health program consists of chemical dependent and co-dependent outpatient services. Services include individual counseling, group counseling, couple counseling, family counseling and relapse prevention therapy and planning.

  • Pre-Marital Evaluation - Pre-Marital Evaluations help couples anticipating marriage to explore their readiness for the marriage commitment.

  • Foster Care

  • Benefit Bank - Based on US Census figures, $35 billion is going unclaimed to help low and moderate income people overcome the devastating effects of poverty. Catholic Social Service uses Benefit Bank software to help moderate- and low-income individuals and families determine their eligibility for cash assistance, food assistance, Medicaid, and tax credits, deductions and adjustments. Using Benefit Bank software, Catholic Social Service can help individuals break the cycle of hunger and poverty.
