Strengthening and Empowering Individuals, Families and Communities

Catholic Social Service provides a range of social services that are designed to strengthen and empower individuals, families and communities throughout the 28 counties of southwest Kansas. We do this through direct service, cooperating agencies, and by providing support for parish social ministry. Some of our direct services include:

  • Assessment, counseling, education, assistance and support for couples who want to, or who have already adopted a child.
  • Pregnancy counseling for women and couples so that they know their options and can make well-informed decisions for themselves and their baby in the event of an unintended pregnancy.
  • The Teen Mom's Program which helpsp very young mothers finish school, make good decisions, accomplish goals, and be self-sufficient.
  • Marriage education classes to strengthen couples and families.
  • Reunification assistance for adoptees and birth parents.
  • Counseling for individuals and families who struggle with addiction, or the grief of an abortion.
  • Counseling for individuals and families who need help securing economic assistance for food, cash, medical care, and child care.
  • Emergency assistance for individuals and families who are not able to make ends meet.
  • Economic assistance in the event of a tornado or other disaster.
  • Training for healthcare and counseling professionals across the state of Kansas so that they feel confident to discuss the option of infant adoption with women who are pregnant.

Leadership

The mission, vitality and sustainability of Catholic Social Service in southwest Kansas continues to grow under the faithful direction of Debbie Snapp, Executive Director; Mike Stein, President; and our Board of Directors who meet throughout the year on a bi-monthly basis.

Cooperation

Catholic Social Service is pleased to work in close relationship with Bishop Ronald Gilmore and the Diocese of Dodge CityCatholic Charities USA, and United Way in Barton CountyFinney County and Dodge City.

Staff and Volunteers

The Catholic Social Service family includes eleven full-time staff members, two Americorp Vista personnel, and numerous volunteers who guide the organization, mentor teen moms, teach classes, prepare meals, solicit funding, make fundraisers happen, and more!

Funding

Catholic Social Service is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. In addition to federal or state grants, we receive funding from United Way, our Annual Wine Tasting Event, and donations to our Gift Catalog, our Annual Appeal, and our Catholic Social Service Endowment.

Always in Need . . .

The need never goes away. As long as there is family turmoil, people without meaningful work, individuals unable to pay rent and utilities, jobs that don't pay enough for people to make ends meet, and individuals who've given up believing that life can be a little better, Catholic Social Service needs your help.
