Advocacy Alert: Urge Representative and Senators to Restore Federal Unemployment Benefits
Federal unemployment benefits expired on November 30, 2010.
Without Congressional action to restore these benefits an estimated two million jobless workers will run out of benefits, leaving these workers and their families without vital resources as the Christmas season and New Year approach.
The long term solutions that jobless workers and their families need are the availability of full time jobs and a robust economy. In the short term federal unemployment benefits remain critical. We call on Congress to restore the federal unemployment program while we work together for a longer term solution of full employment and economic opportunity. This will ensure that jobless workers are able to meet their own needs, and the needs of their families, as they continue seek employment as the economy continues its recovery.
What You Can Do: Congress is expected to vote this WEEK on legislation to restore federal unemployment insurance benefits to dislocated workers. Please email your Representative and Senators TODAY and ask them to support restoring the unemployment insurance benefits for jobless workers. Click here to sign and send a letter to your Representatives and Senators.
