In reality, according to the federal government 37 - 44 million Americans live below the poverty line and you may not even know that you live below the poverty line.

Why is Poverty an important Problem?
Poverty is an important problem because you never know when it is going to be your household falling below the poverty line. It is also not on the agenda of most government officials. Most communities have to come together and fight poverty among themselves with the resources that are available in their communities.
